Abstract
The parotid gland is the largest of all salivary glands and most commonly affected by benign tumours. We present a case of parotid swelling which was clinico- radiographically suspected to be either a pleomorphic adenoma or Warthin’s tumour which are the commonest tumours of salivary glands. Extracapsular dissection was performed under general anaesthesia. Histopathologically, the lesion was reported as oncocytoma. Oncocytoma, a glandular neoplasm composing large cells with bright eosinophilic granular cytoplasm with central round nuclei, is rarely suspected to be the cause for parotid swelling given the rarity of this entity.
